Burma, renamed Myanmar by the military regime,  is a known source of human
trafficking and is the second largest producer of illicit opium. They have no Bill of Rights
and their constitution was suspended in 1988. Their violent policies include severe
beatings and torture of detainees and the Karen people. They have destroyed more than
3,300 ethnic minority villages in their scorched earth ethnic cleansing campaign - which
resulted in creating more than 1 million refugees. They have forcibly conscripted up to
70,000 child soldiers (more than any other country in the world), and have nearly
doubled the number of political prisoners in the last 18 months.... to more than 2,100.
Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected president of Burma and a Nobel Peace Prize
winner, leads a remarkable peaceful campaign for human rights and democracy against
the Burmese military dictatorship.

Suu Kyi was imprisoned for more than 18 years and was recently released after
international pleas and support.

At the invitation of the humanitarian group U.S. Campaign for Burma, Walter and his son
Andrew visited refugee camps along the Burma-Thailand border in July 2007.  He will be
helping  in their grassroots campaign to get the message out about the human rights
violations, and the long running struggle and suffering of the Burmese people: including
the permanent residents of the refugee camps in Thailand.

Visit our
Burma Crisis page for more pictures, interviews, and details of the trip. For up to

Walter on his trip to Thailand and the crisis in Burma:

"Time and again on this trip we were exposed to human beings who were gentle in nature but strong in determination. There was
no beating of chests and cries for vengeance: just the absolute certainty that with time, perseverance, and pressure for change from
the rest of the world, life would get better."

Two hundred years after the apocalypse the human race, buried in the bowels of
the earth, is a few tortured breaths from extinction. It offers up one last gift to
the poisoned surface and the mutant life forms that survive there; a new species.
Up until now the creatures of fiction, these new beings must determine the
purpose of their being. Are they only the violent spawn of mankind's evil doomed
to a soulless eternity or the progenitors of a better more hopeful world? Is it
possible for them to tear the throats from their prey, drink the blood and still
pray to god? The story of "Things To Come" are the things to come.
Walter's Latest Projects
" Koenig has made a name for himself as an amazing writer...His tale of a dystopian
society goes beyond past the worlds of “Mad Max” or “Blade Runner” but well into the
period pioneered by “I am Legend” ...
The only aspect of this more amazing than his writing is the art by Juan Baez is
amazing.
"  - Don Smith, Parcbench.com
Back in 2005, the fans got together and raised the $15,000 that
it would cost to install a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
for Walter. Since that time, the cost has risen to $30,000. This
pays not only to manufacture the star, but for the road closings,
police and EMT presence, and other costs associated with the
ceremony. The Website Staff here at Walter's official site
encourage everyone to help make history happen with the last
of the "Star Trek: TOS" ceremonies. Visit the
walterstarfund
page today and donate what you can...$10, $20...more. With
the Hollywood Expo staff, we've come up with some awesome
gifts in return for your help! Check it out!!
